Burrito's Screenshot Tutorial by CatharsisJB Burrito's Screenshot Tutorial by CatharsisJB
Heh ^___^ Just did this for fun, as everytime I have a kiriban I do have quite a few people asking me "how??!" or "what am I doing wrong?"

This tutorial is just for people with Windows (I used XP) and a copy of MSPaint. You can do similar things with just about any image editor like Photoshop, Opencanvas, et cetera. If you need help with a different system, try reading the comments below, or run a search for other tutorials.

I don't mind at all if you need to practice - send me a practice Note if you are having trouble, and let me know if you need more help.

(And don't take Burrito's demeanor to heart, she's gravid and grumpy.)

All photos taken by me, please don't reproduce them :)

X3 I know this is an olldd comment. But  I thought the same thing when I was new. I was thinking camels and desert... Then I saw someone show what it is. You know Pageviews? Well when a person reaches close to a certain # some set a kiriban, and as so saying "Hey! If you're here and I'm at this number, take a screenshot and show me and I'll send you something or other."

Thanks for making this! It's hilarious, cute, and informative at the same time! (Even if I already knew how to do it. ^.^)

It's also wonderfully convient to use in my own kiriban: [link]

Ha! I'm sure this will save you a ton of effort down the road, since I know you have to explain The Screenshot Thing a jillion times.

And also if people ignore this I give you permission to beat them upside the head with a salami.

Eh, everyone has a different learning curve, and some folks just never had to do a screenshot before. I know I work on learning new things a lot better if I have pictures to follow.

Based on the number of people who ask me every time I have a kiriban, it's not "basic," heh. A lot of people don't notice much past the A-Z, punctuation, and shift keys :3

Some computers, like mine, which is a lap top, will require you to press 'function+prscreen', just of you want to add that piece of info.

Weird! My laptop doesn't have that.
Like I said in the comments (tho I doubt folks read them) if people have questions they are free to ask, and at least I can point 'em to a googled answer. I could only work with the keyboard functions and OS that I have on-hand.

catharsis, you may want to add these instructions to your comments...

Instructions for Mac OS X:
Apple(Command)+Shift+3
The screenshot appears on the desktop

Instructions for Linux (KDE and Gnome):
Alt+Print Screen (or just Print Screen)
This should open up a dialog, where you simply give a name to your screenshot and save it.

For any machine running The Gimp:
Launch The Gimp
File->Acquire->Grab->Screen
File->Save As...
Then save it.

Thanks -- I've been too lazy to look that up -- now I have a practice screenshot of your instructions. 'Tis a shame you can't put cute geckos all over your instructions like JB did.

And hopefully no one noticed that after I opened the practice screenshot to make sure it worked that I tried pressing the close button on the screen shot, instead of the actual window.

Me stupid.

I could, once I get my Crested Gecko (eventually). I'm just not sure if I can allow him on my LCD screen of my laptop :|

Glad to hear the instructions worked for you :)

Like it says, these instructions are for Windows users with MSPaint, only because that is all I have. If folks need info on different systems I can't fit it into this image because I don't have those systems so I can't show Burrito using it. :P

That's fine. I just wanted to make the information available somehow. :)

I'd do the images myself, but I'm missing a Crested Gecko.
