Sweet Dinosaur

Sucrosaurus - Little was known about this small dinosaur until a recent paleontologist uncovered a large group of them embedded in an unusually large amount of amber. Thought to have emerged during a very (incredibly) brief span of the late Cretaceous period, these creatures seemed to thrive on extremely sweet treats.

It is thought that it was an offshoot of the Tyrannosaur family. It may have adapted to eating sweet foods like tree sap, because while the Sucrosaurus shared the tiny forelimbs of the Tyrannosaurs, they did not inherit the stature nor the rending teeth of its larger cousins, and frankly, it is easier to lick honeycombs and deal with angry bees than it is to tackle moving prey with large teeth.

Unfortunately, it appears as though the Sucrosaurus was the first creature to fall prey to the old adage, "You are what you eat" - its sweet-laden diet made it nearly irresistable to larger predators.



I seriously love this little guy. I'm not normally a huge fan of pink, but this guy looks like he could crawl into a barrel of those old dot candies on wax paper and blend right in. In nature, not so much. ^__^
