... once again, sigh.

While at the herp show, I was wandering the aisles and this positively huge gecko caught my eye. There he was, sitting alone in a large deli cup, his unblinking green eyes... not blinking.

The fellow running the booth saw me staring. We exchanged small talk. Talk turned to the big gecko. After a few minutes, I told myself I was ready to walk away.

The man asked if I wanted to hold it.

SIGH. This is what happened with the cresties.

The cresties, I fell in love with because of their warm floppy feet. Well, this guy? He is bigger, and floppier, and even less skittish.

He is Gehyra marginata, sometimes (incorrectly) called "Vorax." He doesn't have a JB-name yet. His fatty folds and rolls and huge feet make me want to call him Pancake though.

That's the closest I have ever seen a marginata to looking like a chewie.

I love his colors - I was so surprised when he kicked up a little green in his skin.

I decided I don't need to spend $400 on a chewie when I can get one of these guys for well under $100 :)

True, true, but I still adore my chewies more than all the other rhacs I have. C: I had two of these guys once, but seeing as I didn't want to breed them I just ended up selling them.

You are now, officially, in the realm of C.G.L. (crazy gecko lady). But there are much worse things, so take heart. Much better than being a C.C.L. and kinder to those with allergies.

This guy's wrinkles makes me sing,
Ol' man lizard.
Dat ol' man lizard.
He mus' know sumpin'
But don't say nuthin'
He jes' keeps lickin'
He Keeps on lickin' his eye.

:) I think there must be something about those reptile shows, this happened to me a few weeks ago, only it was grey banded kingnsnakes instead of geckos.

that little guy looks awesome! I love the coloration and skin texture

Sounds a bit like the way mu new European Fire Salamander snared me, minus the holding thing and the nice talky merchant. My macho chunk of black and yellow caught me with the not blinking thing too.. And being big.

I have to admit, the guy selling him was a good salesman. He was friendly, and not overbearingly "you gotta buy my stuff"ish. He answered every question I had without hesitation and he recognized me when I came back around a half hour later to pick the little (er, big) guy up.

I lub my squishy geckoface!

Mmmm, pancakes.

I've never seen this kind of Gecko before. Very interesting lil' fella.

Though looking at his eye makes me think that a Venus Flytrap is gonna jump out of the eye-socket and bite me. Eep. o_O

Big geckos are the bestest geckos! I held one of Phillipe De Vosjoli's Leachies at a show here and fell in love.
But what will you house him in? I've heard 18x18x24 exo-terras are ok. >.>

That's the problem with merchants. They know just how to push your buttons despite your good sense. xD Sure is a beauty, I can see why you couldn't resist. C: How big does he get?

He's an adult now, so he'll stay this big, 9.5 inches or so and over 100 grams.

Just out of interest I'd like to see a size comparison between this guy and the normal cresties. He looks big, but I can't imagine how big. lol. My brain fails.

Yeah he's about 9.5 inches long, cresties get about 8 and are much less massive. I'll have to do a side-by-side once he's out of quarantine!
